Named for their appearance, resembling nothing so much as a deadly Christmas ornament with a spindle-shaped body consisting of shining metal tines and blades. They spend their time studying military science; infecting humans and intelligent creatures with a transforming virus and using their slaves to cripple military science and stunt advances in scientific technology.
