An amalgamation of cooling lava and indigenous inorganic matter as is often found in volcanic eruptions. These creatures are lured by the sounds of miner's hammers and picks striking stone and try to warn them away from defiling the earth. Unfortunately, due to their poor communication skills and language barriers, they often resort to violence to deter would-be miners.
