Appearance
Houshee, also known as Ethereal Horrors, are not truely ethereal beings. Rather, they are bodiless, mischevious Fey that are often mistaken for ghosts or poltergeists. Houshee are unreliable in their behavior or appearance. They tend to take whatever ghost-like shape is appropriate for what they wish to accomplish.
Whatever shape the houshee assumes it is always intangible and translucent, though it may be of any size smaller than Large in volume. Houshee do not emit sound or smell. It is unknown how they communicate.

Combat
Theoretically a houshee could cause great harm should it put its ample powers to the task, however there are no recorded cases of a houshee intentionally causing harm to its victims. Most victims of a houshee's attack are saved from harm by the houshee's incredible talent in telekinesis. Wounds which are caused from a houshee's maliciousness rarely exceed minor cuts, scrapes, or bruises. Nevertheless, the antics which a houshee is willing to perform to induce movement can be quite alarming.
Cause Fear (Su): This supernatural ability functions similar to the spell cause fear (Will, DC 18 partial) as cast by a 6th level sorcerer. A Houshee can cause fear in up to three creatures per round.
Telekinesis (Su): A houshee can use a telekinesis effect against any number of objects within 200 feet of itself as long as the total weight of all objects affected does not exceed 2000 pounds. This effect is similar to the spell improved telekinesis as though cast by a 20th level sorcerer. A houshee can use its telekinesis ability against attended objects (Will, DC 16 negates) and often does so to prevent creatures capable of harming it from attacking it.

Habitat/Society
Houshee frequently travel in small groups and are rarely encountered solitary. What Houshee do beyond their chaos causing exploits is a mystery. There are no recorded cases of successful communication with houshee.

Ecology
The houshee are incorporeal beings feed upon the movement of corporeal creatures. How the houshee gain sustenance from other creatures motion is unknown, but the larger the creature, the more sustenance a houshee gains from its movement. However, not just any movement will sustain a houshee. Calm, gentle, slower, and generally day to day movement is not enough for one to feed upon. Rather, the movement of creatures which are exerting themselves, fearful, or otherwise quickly moving is a more filling "meal." To this end the houshee cause all manner of disturbances in an attempt to frighten and encourage the providers of their meal to move quickly.
Houshee are rather harmless and most deaths caused from them are due to bad heart conditions of their victims. Houshee do not wish to kill those they haunt as this would force them to find some other source of food. Houshee seem to have a very large appetite and will often remain in an area for nearly an hour to feed off the motion of its inhabitants before leaving to go elsewhere. They are attracted to larger creatures or large amounts of rapid movement. A pack of galloping horses would well suit a houshee's appetite. A slain houshee vanishes.

History
Houshee appearances have been recorded through-out the history of the world since the end of the Age of Chaos, however with the recent Black Scourge wars and invasions of other powerful evil creatures upon the Prime, weakening its fabric, the appearance of Houshee steeply increased. After the broken Seals of Chaos were replaced the number of houshee incidents have returned to pre-Black Scourge times.
