A wealthy noble who lives near Shalost. Kartekast is the father of Akriel. The party finally met Kartekast after having delivered the Crown of Souls into the hands of Dr. Domini. Kartekast revealed to them various facts and persuaded them to retrieve the Crown and even to destroy it if they were able to. Kartekast is a big man, he has the stature of a woodcutter, but cleaner and more noble. He has a commanding presence and does his best to look after the suspicious people who live within his protection. Kartekast also is a fine animal trainer and prides himself upon his training of wolves, of which he has many. The wolves travel the streets of his town of Shalost freely, keeping the werewolves which roam wild nearby from being able to blend into the people of the towns since the natural wolves are able to tell the difference between the two.
    The party stayed at Kartekast's for several months after destroying Radaga and losing the Crown to Daglan when he arose from the dead at the witch's slaying, a well deserved rest after the trials the quest had presented to them.
