You cast this spell upon a slumbering creature that you can see. If that creature fails a Will save then you gain mental control over its actions for the duration of the spell or until it awakens. Controlling a sleeping creature is a clumsy affair at best and the target creature reacts to your commands with a -4 penalty to its dexterity.
Any kind of damage, loud sound (eg. shouting, a door slamming), or commanding the sleeping creature to perform actions that are obviously and directly contrary to its alignment immediately grants the creature a new Will save with a +2 bonus. If successful, the creature awakens, otherwise it continues to sleep and follow your mental commands. Should the target creature leave the range of this spell then it falls to the ground (and probably awakens).
Focus: An item of a personal nature to the creature you wish to control. A lock of hair, a favorite knife, or an article of clothing are all acceptable items for this purpose.
