You create a hollow cube of shimmering ethereal walls, visible only in good lighting. The cube appears so that you stand in the center of its floor. It has a speed of 15 ft. and moves with you, but if you leave the cube then the spell ends. As you cast this spell, dictate one energy type (acid, fire, cold, electricity, and sonic) per five caster levels that the cube will protect you from. Thereafter, anytime the walls of the cube come into contact with the named energy types it absorbs 1 die of damage (energy) per two caster levels. Excess energy passes through the cube walls. The cube absorbs energy that attempts to pass through its walls in either direction (from within or from without). Elementals created from an energy type (such as a fire elemental that pass through the walls of the cube suffer 1 die of damage per 2 caster levels as the wall absorbs their energy. The cube provides no protection against physical substances, but may negate their energy (as in the case of neutralizing acid, or snuffing out the fires on burning arrows).
Material Component: A small crystal matrix, valued no less than 100 gp. The matrix is consumed in the casting.
