Necromancy [Death] {Terra, Tapas, Faith}
Level: Clr 8, Sor/Wiz 8, Brakah 8, Zhakrin 8
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Target/Area/Effect: 1 living creature
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude partial
Spell Resistance: Yes
You cause one living creatures spirit to depart from its body, slaying the creature and raising its spirit as a ghost. Creatures which resist the spell with a successful Fortitude save suffer 3d6 points of damage +1 point per caster level. Targets slain by this damage are not raised as ghosts.
You may attempt to exact a single immediate service from the newly risen ghost. The service must be such that the ghost is capable of completing it within one hour of its being raised. The ghost departs when its service has been completed. The ghost may make a Will save (same DC as that which turned it into a ghost) to resist the obligation of performing a service. If the ghost successfully resists or you demand a service it is not capable of completing in the allotted time then it becomes free willed and may do as it pleases, possibly attacking you. If you choose to not exact a service from the newly risen ghost then you are immune to all attacks from the ghost for as long as it remains in its undead state; the ghost is free to do as it wishes in all other respects.
The target of this spell must have a "soul". Therefore, constructs, undead, and creatures which have no corporeal form are immune to this spell.
Material Component: Any body part or material originating from the target creature's corporeal body.
