You create two shimmering doorways filled with an opaque white radiance. One doorway must be within the range of the spell, the other doorway can be placed anywhere within range, or anywhere that you have physically visited. Creatures may travel in either direction between the two doorways, appearing at the threshold of the second upon entering the first. You cannot attempt interplanar transportation with this spell, but you can penetrate areas of strong physical or magical energies that interfere with teleportation magicks. A portal cannot be created so that it intersects solid matter.
You can hold the portal open only for a brief time (no more than 1 round per caster level) and must concentrate on doing so or the spell ends. Creatures caught midway when the portal closes suffer 1d10 points of damage and are sent wholly to one of the two portals, randomly chosen.
Focus: Two silver rods, each two feet in length and valued at 20 gp each.
