In their normal state these look just like very thin, short half-elves, but they have the ability to instantly sprout a set of magnificent flaming wings, allowing them to fly through the air. Those phaethon who do not die of old age are compelled to fly towards the sun until they pass out and plummet to the earth. When they regain their senses they have transformed into an elder phaethon.
