Like normal liches, dread liches are powerful spellcasters who used magic to prolong their time in the living world. However the process of becoming a dread lich is a greater secret. Most dread liches are normal liches who spent centuries researching the secrets of this evolution. This acquired template can be added to any living creature capable of creating the required phylactery or to any standard lich.
