Starting existence as tiny pebbles, any who touch a dark passage risks death; their essence then fueling the dark passage and their flesh causing it to increase in size. As they grow they come to resemble organic castles, haunted by black watchers. The ultimate purpose of such a construct is to release its creator from otherworldly imprisonment.
