Ascue is the captain of the castle guard for Baroness Arnis of the town of Garret. He makes up for his lack of charisma and leadership abilities with incredible cruelty and barbarism. He's not above torture or breaking a head here and there to make a point or find out some information. That the baroness would place such an obviously evil tyrant in control of her castle guard says much for her moral preferences. Ascue has long black hair, a full beard, and black eyes. Ascue tortured Kalendor, gouging out one of his eyes and stabbing him in the gut to extract information about the rest of the adventuring party that was investigating the death of Duke Isiagon of Hawkydin.
