Adventure Summery


Part I: Travel to Caves

  • Left Tel-Akbar and traveled through Wereskalot and the Abbeys.
  • Met Afarian
  • River Encounter: Crossing the River
  • Travel through Swamps
  • Vine Encounter: Carnivorous Vines, Poisoned two members.
  • Arrived Ravensclaw
  • Met Donalain
  • Befriended Donalain: bought armor, food.
  • Poisoned Problem: Found priest of Lathidus and resolved problem. Required working together to collaborate funds (2000 gold spent)
  • Left Ravensclaw with Donalain (joins party)
  • Giant encounter (Donalain was used as a club) Felled 2 forest giants.
  • Left Karthay
  • Arrived Crescent Plains
  • Goblyn Attack
  • Traveled across plains without incident, arrived at cliff face.
  • Grimlock Encounter
  • Discovered nearby Goblyn Army, Donalain leaves next morning.
  • Party ascends cliffs, Goblyn Horde arrives.
  • Donalain is captured by Goblyn Horde
  • Party Rescues Donalain Successfully
  • Discovers correct cave


Part II: Travel to the Underhalls.

  • Flying Imp Encounter and Puzzle: Successfully solved by using steel surfaces to reflect light into the caves, thereby killing the creatures.
  • Descent into the darkness
  • Cildabrin Encounter: Very difficult fight. Party for most part was totally unprepared and overcome, yet they still succeeded. Fireball-ed the rope used to climb down carelessly.
  • Travel many days.
  • Node Encounter: Theo wounded severely, didn't take warning clue.
  • Web Encounter/Puzzle: Not completed appropriately.
  • Retrieved a magical helm, part of a magical staff, a Skhull Sphere (for use in demon encounter)
  • Used Skhull Sphere on the web. Donalain dies, sets party back about 10 days, nearly ends quest.
  • Troglodyte/Galeb-Dur Battle
  • Grey Ooze Caves Encounter/Portal Puzzle: Successfully completed, though party lost all of their metal equipment nearly, severely crippling the party for he next encounter. Used Steel to make the connection between the two pillars. Defeated the Burning Hecueva which forced them into the cave.
  • Gate to the Underhalls Encounter: Party was suppose to still have the Skhull Sphere here. They gave it their best shot though at attacking the demon. Planned tactics failed dismally resulting in the unconsciousness of nearly the entire party. Successfully impressed the demon with their determination (they were not suppose to defeat it anyhow, just impress it).
  • Passing the Gate Puzzle: Eventually asked the Demon what they were suppose to do to open it ("How do we open this thing?") thus starting puzzle (wasted three days just to start the puzzle). Demon presented thousands of blades of which the party should choose the one which struck him first, Theo chooses the blade which the demon holds in his hands, correctly, though Sanjian had contemplated other plans. The gate is opened.


Part III: The Underhalls to the tavern, "The Down-Under."

  • Party traverses growing stairway down, wisely does not turn on the waterfall which use to go down the stairs.
  • Arrives in forested Cavern
  • Taren leaves party to do work in her charge.
  • Arrives at "The Down Under."
  • Info gathering: Party successfully gets to the upper portion of the bar and researches where they are going, very wise. They speak with Sarusar, learn about black rock, and make travel plans.


Part IV: Into the Lands of the Zith/The return to the surface

  • Party leaves from the "Down Under", prepared for the journey, rested and provisioned.
  • Encounter with Spiders: An easy fight, though it leaves Conner paralyzed, and what's this but a amulet in the shape of a lions head?
  • Theo wears the Lion Amulet, gets turned into a lion.
  • Hooked Horror Encounter: Party rests for a few days down a safe corridor after this. Begins to miss Theo's healing powers.
  • Waterfall Encounter/Puzzle: Party does take some precautions, Theo doesn't leap last like he was suppose to, nearly drowned had it not been for Bolas. Others make it more or less safe as possible down, more rope at this point would have been nice, but oh well. Conner dies from the fall.(see below)
  • Serpent like Beast Encounter: Part was NOT suppose to fight here. Conner dies falling on the creatures back. Fight was difficult, nearly killing the party, Bolas loses his arm. Things were looking grim afterwards but they resolved to push on. They did defeat the thing though and recovered some nice stuff. Crystal scroll case, Serpent bracers, serpent 2-h-war axe.... some money.
  • After resting many days, the party pushes on.
  • Party gets lost.
  • While fleeing from a nearby Zith, the party encountered something that threw flames and exuded smoke... nasty nasty... wisely, they ran away.
  • Easy Door Puzzle/Trap: Opened the door safely, but doing so made the door magical, attracting many Zith.... oh well....
  • Into the misty and warm caverns. No encounters here, though I thought about it, the party was just too banged up to survive one.
  • Party avoids combat with a Merilith. Though they had fun examining the arrow it shot 2 inches deep into the stone above Bolas' head. Never did figure out that the reason the arrow bled when broken was that it was fashioned from the flesh of creatures turned to stone.
  • Success: Party recovered Bolas' equipment and even did some mining to retrieve his glowing stone. Began burrowing to leave the place by another avenue rather then face the "thing that shot the arrow"
  • Successful use of wish scroll: party returns to the surface with first wish, uses other to heal all their damage and replace Bolas' arm, revive Conner to life. Theo remains, strangely enough, in the shape of a lion.
  • Party returns to Tel-Akbar. Rests for a few days before setting off on next travels.
  • END OF QUEST: completed successfully.

  2. Node Hurts Theo
  3. Party nearly succumbs to trickery of the Sentient Web
  4. Party did not assist Galeb Dur in fight against the Troglodytes. Assisting the Galeb Dur would have assisted the party very much.
  5. Theo wears the Lion Amulet, this could have been critical except the part was going to a place where he couldn't cast spells anyhow.
