Crown of Souls: Part 8 - Further Details
I am worried that Taren won't be able to cast any magic since Baeast didn't
yet exist in this time and other of her powers will be diminished as well
since she no longer has a charge. This may mean we have no food supply
immediately available. The few coins that we have will look strange since
they obviously are not from the Eastern Empire. Theo should be careful of
using his magic since at this time period certain followers of a dark god
(Zhakrin) make a habit of hunting Greater Path Mages and will be able to
detect his castings if he is within range.
Theo neglected to give an accurate measure
of how many days had passed, but that's not too important, I guess. All
together this took about a tenday.
One other thing he didn't mention... just outside
the skeletal fence surrounding the town a sort of tornado-like cloud funnel
reached the ground inside a circle of huge skeletal ribs. Occasionally
something would come out of the sky down the funnel and we could see that
they were bricks like that one we found which were slowly piling up into
some sort of circular structure at the bottom of the funnel and were already
eight of twelve feet high. Also inside the circle of huge ribs were large
mounds of dirt, seemingly freshly turned, each with a pile of some substance
on it (mostly some sort of stones).
Before we could explore it further, the skeletal
fence around the town opened up for us and we went through.
It was obviously all an elaborate trap, but I
don't think we made any incredibly stupid mistakes. I think it was inevitable
since Radaga is so much more powerful than we are.
We managed to keep the crown out of Radaga's
hands. Whether that was because Taren cast Protection from Evil on Sanjian
before Radaga could finish her curse or simply by the crown's own evil
design, we do not know.
