Daglan: Part 3 - The First Assault

We knew we dare not give Daglan time to gather his strength. We wanted to go get some clear seeing potion before fighting him so that we would be able to see him if he was invisible, so our first stop after using the rod, landing in water, and casting dimensional folding, was Shalost and the alchemist Brillyg who sold us the stuff last time. This time, he gave us a really good deal since there were the city guards were pounding on the door and it is an illegal addictive substance (at least, it is illegal in Tel Akbar). However, that also meant we were in a hurry to get out of there... so no time for Taren to cast Protection from evil on everyone.
Stepping through the portal to the clearing in front of Daglan's tower, an alarm bell began sounding loudly from an unknown (obviously magical) source. Taren quickly cast Protection from evil on Theo and herself. Then (at the request of the party) cast a ring of fire around the party to prevent attacks from the hordes of undead in front of Daglan's tower.
We all waited a few minutes. The alarm stopped. Then Taren decided to cast more Protection from evils, starting with Marcus. Before she could finish her spell, a familiar black cloud descended upon the party. Taren immediately dispelled the ring of fire and everyone started moving in different directions to escape the poisonous deadly cloud. Taren climbed a tree and then tree walked far from the place, but before she could emerge from the cloud, she, Marcus, and Bolas were caught in an acid storm. Though the acid stopped falling quickly, the acid clung to their skin and kept burning, with no way of escaping it. Taren was unable to cast any spells through the pain.
Emerging from the cloud, Chance and Theo were struck by a fireball, but could see no Daglan to retaliate against.
The top of Daglan's tower erupted in fire and we saw signs that Sarusar and Daglan were battling.
A dragonlike creature made all of bone and rotting flesh appeared in the sky.
Theo made a portal to the top of the tower (which was still aflame) and shot a magic missile through it. Chance tried to hit Daglan through the portal with flaming oil. Even from the distance, we could see with our clear sight that these attacks bounced off of his protections.
The bone dragon creature attacked Theo, rendering him unconscious. It then attacked Bolas, climbing up in the sky with him in an impressive battle which ended with both Bolas and the bone dragon falling from the sky and dying (Bolas died from the fall).
Marcus got the idea that fire might quench the burning of the acid and that Taren's potion might protect from fire (which it did) so both Marcus and Taren drank the potion and danced in flames, sending up their prayers to Baeast while the fire worked to prevent the burning of the acid.
Glancing over at Daglan's tower, the party could see an enormous humanoid creature wielding lightning.
Sarusar appeared in our midst, saying that the creature seemed to be impervious to all his magical attacks and that he had no idea how to fight it. We decided it was a good time to leave, but we had to wait for Sanjian, who had gone to retrieve Bolas' body.
We suggested to Sarusar that we go to the white temple where we would be safe.
Before Sanjian could return, the creature attacked, hitting Chance and Taren. Taren would have died, but took no damage by using the last charge of the ioun stone, which then shattered.
Then we were all together (including Theo's unconscious body) and Sarusar whisked us away.
At the temple, Sarusar recovered Bolas' body through magical means.
In the distance, we could see the huge creature attempt to approach the temple and then turn away.
Later, while Theo was still recovering, Sarusar brought Bolas back to life (as an elf).
We decided to plan more carefully for our next battle with Daglan.
