Last Journal Entry of Vharagrod

9 Assiras 12887
I must report to my superiors. I fear that the minions of Titalus have betrayed our trust. The undead which I have raised perform admirably, as do the minor devils which comb through the wreckage looking for the disc. It is a pity that these objects are so saturated with our lords power that we cannot use his power to divine their true location and must bases our search upon rumor and ancient text. I have heard reports from underlings that there have been powerful attacks made upon the fortress which holds the Waters of Life that will raise our champions and lord.
I digress. The Infernal, Ishanil once was impatient with our progress here, but now seems bored. It no longer shows interest in any of the magical finds which we have recovered and seems to but biding its time. Even though we have finally found entrance to the below catacombs, the devil is in no hurry to even bother with its exploration and but busies us with trivial digging elsewhere. Isn’t it the catacombs that we have sought? I worry that it will bring the wrath of the dragon upon us as it has become increasingly insolent to the beast. The living sacrifices that it demands so that it might commune with the arch-devil are becoming more difficult to obtain. The curse of this swamp turns them into trolls, an unacceptable sacrifice, and so we must range far to capture them when one is needed. A pity none of them will convert to our Master, that would make their sacrificial deaths truly glorious and we would not need worry of them becoming trolled. I wish I could understand what they speak of, but the infernal tongues are not meant for mortal vocalization and Ishanil shares little of what it learns. I think that it is lying to me. I believe they have already found what they want elsewhere, but if so, then why keep us here. Does Titalus plan betrayal? Are we kept here so that we may not see what transpires elsewhere?
The terrible dreams have become worse. I think our sleeping lord is displeased with me. All that I see when I close my eyes is the destruction of all that I behold. They have increasingly troubled me ever since our fervent prayers were answered for our sleeping lord to aid us with magic to assist in His cause. Tadreon denies that he too has had the dreams since our Lord’s blessing has returned to us, but I can see it in his eyes. He hides in the library, searching for clues to awaken our Master, and for reason of avoiding the infernals as well. I must learn soon what is wrong and report my suspicions to my superiors. A detachment should arrive any day, I but hope it is not too late.
