Campaign Excerpt: Amineri Lightning Bolts Al-Rathis and Captive

The adventurers inquired as to where Oppal, the kobold sorcerer, was. The captive quickly told us, "human myer oppal," and pointed off to the Northwest in the direction of the human town of Myer. They confirmed through the kobold that Oppal was a sorcerer and that he uses cold spells. It was obvious that the kobold was impressed with Oppal's abilities.
The debate of what to do with the kobold came up once the party had their information. Sasha and Oscar were in favor of killing the creature. Ameneri was silent on the issue and merely looked at the kobold, saying nothing. Kalendor and Al-Rathis were in favor of letting the creature live, either setting it free or leaving it tied up where it might later escape on its own after we had left.
Unexpectedly, as Al-Rathis was carrying the Kobold (reasoning that we would keep him as a captive presumably), Ameneri cast a lightning bolt which struck the two of them, horrificly wounding the kobold though it remained conscious, and harming Al-Rathis. Following this startling development, Ameneri lay down on the ground and closed her eyes. Al-Rathis raged and attacked her, but before he could strike her more than once Oscar stepped in and defended Ameneri, threatening violence against any that would hurt her. Something of a stand off then came about.
Oscar nudged Ameneri. She didn't react, so he asked Sasha to examine Ameneri, since Sasha was impartial to what had just occurred also since she is a skilled healer. Sasha could find nothing wrong with her and after a moments examination shook her as though to wake her up from what appeared to be sleep.
Ameneri awoke and expressed concern for Al-Rathis' wounds and puzzlement that she had been the one to inflict them with a lightning bolt. She professed no memory of having cast the spell, which she also said she had never been able to cast before, and offered Al-Rathis a couple healing potions (which he only consumed once Kalendor had vouched by alchemical testing that indeed they were indeed cure potions).
After much conversation we reasoned that either one of several things may have happened. Either Ameneri is crazy and has mental problems (she had no memory of the event) or Ameneri was possessed or compelled to do it by the kobold sorcerer (though detect magic revealed no compulsion on her). Most of the adventurers were of the opinion that she is crazy.
They headed onward to the town of Myer, less than a days travel distant now, and hope to have Amineri's head examined by a priest once they get there, in the meantime, she's walking in front of the rest of the party.
