Mind flayers of Thoon are those which traveled into the Far Realm and were changed by their experiences there. Now returned, they live a twisted existence different from other mind flayers. Shadow Flayers are created in a breeding program that emphasizes stealth over psionic ability, allowing them to become invisible at will.
