Mind flayers of Thoon are those which traveled into the Far Realm and were changed by their experiences there. Now returned, they live a twisted existence different from other mind flayers. Elder brains are floating, purple, bulbous masses that resemble giant brains with trailing tentacles. They are powerful telepaths, leaders of the mind flayers of Thoon. They are always accompanied by other mind flayers of Thoon.
