Campaign Excerpts: Minor Events

Fleeing the Hall of Kings We vacated the Hall of Kings and had a harrowing escape from the magic infused area since evening was nearly upon us. While magic infused bolts of lightning began to ring through the obsidian walled canyons, the party made great haste to be away before their strength was too great to resist. Sasha invoked a wind walk spell upon herself and Al-Rathis, but she did not count on the power of magic in the air and a surge of magic made their gasseous state permanent. Tellzann employed other means to escape and barely made it out with his life.
Fortunately, Tellzann's companion, Elena, was able to fix the problem of the permanent wind walk spell during the next morning. The party then traveled to Mendenton, from which they would travel to Tel-Akbar and make arrangements to obtain a greater teleport scroll so that they could at last return to the Kingdom of Arend with great speed.

Traveling in the Mountains North of the Darkenwood They decided to travel over an ancient mountain pass known as Frenalg Groft, the Giant Steps, to save some time. This ancient causeway was a fifty foot wide road of solid stone cut into the mountainsides. The traveling was not difficult, though there was snow to deal with. The pass was known to be inhabited by giants. Stone giants built the road for the Kingdom of Arend almost two-thousand years ago, and still dwelt in the lower areas. Cloud giants dwelt on the mountain peeks above the mountain pass. The two races of giants do not get along well and travelers need beware since they both watch over the roadway.
About midday the party came upon a frost worm, which was a not too challenging fight, though Tellzann was almost eaten. Having slain the creature, Sasha turned into a storm giant to drag its corpse along with us, but some members of the party didn't think this was a good idea as the other giant races might look upon a storm giant as a threat and intrusion. So, she instead turned into a gargantuan scorpion and dragged the thing behind her with one pincer while the rest of the party road upon her back. In this way they traveled quickly.
Later, they encountered some stone giants, but when they saw that the adventurers had slain the frost worm they let the party pass in peace in exchange for giving them the corpse of the worm.
